Anguish Candle

In our holydays, my friend bought the book „The Alchemaster's Apprentice“ (Der Schrecksenmeister) from Walter Moers. Almost two weeks long I could only think of the picture of the Anguish Candle (Schmerzkerze). A big SORRY to my friend … think, I get on her nerves . But I want an Anguish Candle!

As I was home, I started to build one. First I thought of doing it in wax, like a real candle. But I think it's very pity if all the work was for nothing, if the candle burns down. So I made it in modeling compound with the option to put a tealight at the top.

It was very nice to work on it and up to the drying bevels it went very quickly.
Now, let me short explain, what Pain candles are:
Ghoolion the Alchemaster created this spezial kind of candle. These candels feel the pain, of burning down. They suffer terrible torments, that's where they have their names.

For German speaking people (because, I don't trust me to translate) the ingredients:
Man nehme ein Leidender Männlein, Weinbergschnecken vom Gargyllener Bollogschädel. Beides auf kleiner Flamme einkochen. (Leider äußert sich der Schrecksenmeister nicht näher zu den anderen alchemistischen Zutaten.) Für den Docht braucht ihr nur noch das Rückrad einer Blindschleiche, das mit dem Nervensystem eines Ochsenfrosches verflochten wird … Tadaa fertig. Ist doch ganz einfach, oder?
